About Me

I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an international medieval re-creation group. There, I am Johanna le Paumer, living in the Barony of Ponte Alto, in the Kingdom of Atlantia (the U.S. Mid-Atlantic). I joined the SCA in 2012 after listening to a friend's stories about the Pennsic War - a huge two-week event taking place annually in Pennsylvania, attracting a population as large as 15,000 people in 2010.

As an undergraduate, I studied medieval art and architecture. I became fascinated by the illuminated manuscripts created by monks and nuns and, later on, by secular scribes. Now, as a scribe in Atlantia, I create works inspired by the medieval originals - illuminated documents, or "scrolls," celebrating achievements made by individuals within the Kingdom.

This site is a portfolio of my work - it is still very much in its infancy, and more content will be added as new projects are completed.
